Dear Sir/Madame,
I am writing to you because of my interest in your recently opened position advertised on mandy.com. I am very interested by the prospect of getting to join your creative team, and break into the video game production industry.
I am currently an undergraduate studying Computer Games Programming at the University Of Lincoln and i believe that I could be an invaluable member of your team. I think that I could not only bolster your team with my skills and expertise, but that I could also expand my skill set and in turn become more valuable to you as a member of your team in the industry.
I have attached my resume that details my skills and experiences further.
Regards,
Tyler Miller
INCLUDE MONOLITH GAMES JOB LISTING
CV
Tyler miller
I believe that the ability to create games of my own, as
well as meet other like-minded people in this field is a priceless resource.
These are both things I think I will have access to at the University Of
Lincoln. This subject interests me because I am deeply in love with video
games, and believe that programming is a very useful skill to have in general.
I think that even beyond the scope of video games, programming will be an
almost invaluable skill in the years to come, given the rapid expansion of
technology.
I am a hard worker, especially when working on something I
am passionate about. I am more than willing to devote the time to learn the
skills to succeed and have already started on this, opting to try and build up
a base knowledge of programming in my free time using online courses.
My current course relates to the course I wish to enrol in,
during my time on the Media Diploma course I have had to participate in several
group projects, which means I work well in teams or on my own. I have had to do
some programming on the course but so far this has been limited to basic
exercises.
I have a sizeable repertoire of skills at my disposal, these
include:
The ability to read, and write well in English, to work well
in a group, taking more leader oriented roles or being directed by one.
Working well on my own and actively seeking out resources in
order to aid this solo work, being able to communicate well to a crowd, such as in a
pitching scenario.
I am also very responsible, devoting much of my free time to
my part time job, and my other time to my League Of Legends club (unofficial).
I believe these examples show my ability to complete tasks responsibly and
efficiently and to enjoy the work I am doing, something I believe is important
in any work environment.
My hobbies are varied, they include:
Gaming offline and online, watching films, reading, collecting
comic books and novels, basketball. Socialising with friends, whether online or
in person I flourish when having someone to talk to. Watching internet
personalities on platforms like Youtube or Twitch.
Work Experience
My work experience at HSS Hire Newmarket road and my current
work at Argos Fitzroy Street have both forced me to work face to face with
customers and through the internet or a telephone, it is here that I have
developed better people skills as well as the ability to work well in a team to
accomplish a task, meet deadlines and quotas, and generally get along.
Future plans
After I complete my chosen course I’d like to make my own
games, either part time or full time.
I think it would be good experience learning how to work
within the industry, as well as put my experiences and skills on the course to
the test. I believe that the course will teach me everything I need to know
about programming and designing my own games, whether In a team or solo
setting.
It is my hope that this personal statement makes my
application to stand out among the crow, and further displays how eager I am to
have new experiences and demonstrate my skills.
